In addition to TheDoc which sets values at a document level, you can also use ThePage to set variables at a page level. I'll leave the how to John G for a future blog.

I tried following your instructions, but was stymied at step #6, by Visio insisting that there is a problem with the formula.

What am I missing? I'm pretty sure that I followed your instructions to the letter.

I'm using Visio 2010, by the way.

Thanks!

Hello Andrew,

Step six adds a reference from the shape to the Document User cell that you added in the previous steps. If Visio is complaining then my guess is that it can't find a User cell of that name in the Document's ShapeSheet. Can you open the Document ShapeSheet and verify that it's there?

Best regards

Thanks John,

On further examination, the error was mine -- I wasn't opening the shapesheet in the right way. I have it working now.

Thanks again,

Andrew

Hello Andrew,

Thanks for coming back. Glad that's working for you.

Best regards

John
