Upgrading to Visio Pro for Office 365

I’ve been running Visio Pro for Office 365 on another machine for a while now but I’ve recently upgraded my main machine from Visio Professional 2013 and I thought I'd jot down my experience.

Visio JavaScript APIs preview reference

This week the Visio team announced the release of the new JavaScript API’s preview to enable the building of extensible solutions on top of Visio Online.  Aside from the initial reference page that the post points to, there’s a growing set of documentation to sit alongside the new types and associated members.

Course files for Visio Flyby for Developers on CH9

I had a question recently asking for the associated files for the Visio Flyby for Developers course on Channel 9.  So I’ve put together a zip package that includes:

• the ShapeSheet and Data Linking demo
• the starting VBA table layout demo
• more involved event listening in the form of VBA / WithEvents and C# delegate and sink events (VSTO addin)
• and a PowerShell script for iterating site collections in SharePoint Online (+ associated stencil and template)

New Visio training videos

Today I’m releasing a new training course on Channel 9. The course is aimed at developers who are new to Visio, but need a quick overview of how Visio works under the covers.

The course is split into two parts:

• Shapes, Stencils and Templates
• Code and Extensibility

[Note, that even if you have no desire to write code, you might still find the first part useful if you’re interested in creating your own shapes and masters.]
